Back to School Book Recs!

back to school is not fun, but maybe if u spice it up with some REALLY GOOD BOOKS... it'll be tolerable. personally, the only thing that gets me through the school day is carrying around a book with me 24/7 to pick up whenever I have a minute. I found it calms me down like crazy as someone who tends to get quite anxious at school. It also gives my brain a break from doing things that make me miserable and I can just take a second to read. Anyway, here are some recommendations that I think have back to school, academia vibes!

If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio

I've talked about this book about a hundred times and I'll never stop. This book encompasses all of what I mean when i say back to school vibes. It has creepy fall atmosphere and a very english-literature-Shakespearean tone which makes it all seem all the more pompous and pretentious, which I find quite fun to get lost in, especially during syllable season.. yawn.

Off Campus Series by Elle Kennedy

On the complete opposite side of the spectrum explaining what I mean by "back to school vibes" falls the Off Campus Series. The spectrum stretches from spooky freaky weird to lovey dovey teenage experience, and these books are seriously skewed to one very obvious side. Don't judge me and just hear me out... when I'm stressed and overwhelmed about school the last thing I wanna do is read a complicated book with twists and turns, hence why I often find myself picking up a book I can finish in 3 hours and feel like I've accomplished something whilst reading about people who have better love lives than me.

The Maidens by Alex Michaelides

what can I say i have a soft soft for pretentious pieces of shit in literature! this book IS fall. its freaky and exciting and very good!!

Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Being an Emily Henry part is such an important part of my soul it would be criminal to not have her on this list. This woman invented small town escapism. This is some HAPPY GIRL SHIT!! this is some bitch turned lovergirl shit. this is good...... really good shit.
