Sunburnt in Scandinavia

I know it’s love

as I stare out at the water

in Stockholm,

seeing your eyes

in the sun sparkles

on the Baltic Sea.

I see your face

in cardamom buns,

feel the warmth

of your skin, your

clammy hands

in my afternoon coffee.

They say you know

it’s forever

when you want to

share the world with them.

I wish you were here.

Here to watch the sunset

at 11 and the

sunrise at 3.

Here to point at dogs,

at birds, at bluebells,

here to pick them for me.

Here to rub my feet

after long days of

cobblestone walks.

Here to remind me

to wear sunscreen.
